JoCoCruiseCrazy report

What could we possibly say about John Roderick's Caribbean cruise experience, when there's video and pics to do the talking for us:

A beautiful version of The Commander Thinks Aloud, with an introduction and backing vocals from Jonathan Coulton, Paul & Storm.

A bunch of videos from John's solo show on the ship, on YouTube:
Not Moving to Portland | Ultimatum | Seven | Scared Straight | Stupid.
And a special cover version of ZZ Top's Gimme All Your Lovin'.

Plus a selection of photos of the shows and ambience on Flickr. And when we say ambience, we mean: smart dress, a great collection of entertainers, and a waterfall.

Who would have thought a Caribbean cruise could be this hot?

I was totally there, and John Roderick captured my heart at *once*. John, I would line up on stage so you could pick me!

I had no idea when I set sail

I had no idea when I set sail on that cruise what a treat it would be to hear John perform. I was just part of the "nerdboat" and had no idea who this John Roderick person was - he was just a great guy in a pair of red suede shoes at the Moustache Formal party that Jonathan Coulton was ribbing for his fashion sense. Until he stepped up on stage for his solo performance and I was completely entranced. Such an incredibly captivating voice that communicates an unexpected passion for his music and life in general. Thank you so much for coming along and sharing your music with us. I hope to hear you again at some point in the future.

I was also on the cruise and

I was also on the cruise and this mesmerizing performance of "The Commander Thinks Aloud" left few dry eyes in the audience and absolutely deserved the standing ovation it received. John's show the night before was equally captivating and the humorous patter in between songs showed he fit in perfectly with the other entertainers. I'm so glad he was a part of the cruise because I now have a new band to love. It was a delight to meet you, John, and I look forward to the next chance to see you live!
